Registered Pack 242 Members
If you are a parent of a registered Pack 242 cub scout, we
would like to offer you the opportunity to either grant or deny your permission
to post photos of your son under our Photo Gallery. First, we want to
assure you that we will always protect your child's identity by never placing
names with photos, which is an explicit tenet in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Also,
permissions to view the Photo Gallery will only be granted to registered Pack
242 members. How do we do this? To take full advantage of all the
information available on this site, we ask you to register with the site
("Register" link lower left side of the home page). When you do,
you must provide a username and password (known to you alone), first & last
name, and an email address. When you have registered, by default, the
permissions to view sensitive, privacy-related portions of the site are still
denied, until the webmaster administers the site and verifies your name with the
current Pack roster. Once your identity has been verified, the webmaster
will grant the requisite permissions to view the entire site (expect about a 24
hr delay before being granted permissions). Also by the rules of the COPPA,
we have to be granted your permission to post any photos of your child
online. To do this, first we ask you to read this entire section of the
site, then when you register, if you wish to grant the permission to post these
photos, please insert the word "granted" in the optional [Occupation]
field of the registration form. If you do not grant the permission, please
enter the word "denied" in this same field. Daily, the webmaster
will review all new user registrations looking for these key words. If the
word "granted" appears, he/she will call you by phone (using the
number on the Pack roster) in order to verify with a parent/guardian that this
permission has in fact been granted. This verification will be recorded in
the [Location] field of the form so it becomes a persistent data element on the
site. An alternate method for granting or denying this permission is to download
our permission form, fill it out, and return it your Den Leader. This form can be
found as a Scout Form in our RESOURCES section.

Once you register, you can further mold how information updates to the page are
automatically sent to you via the email address you provide. By

such as date, time, and IP address of site visitors in order to compile web site
statistics such as utilization. One final thought on privacy, should you
